What kind of equipment does AVGear buy?

What Kind of Equipment Does AVGear Buy?

Overview

AVGear specializes in the purchase, resale, and asset disposition of professional and commercial-grade entertainment and production technology. Our core focus is the equipment used by production companies, rental houses, venues, studios, and broadcasters to execute concerts, festivals, tours, live events, film productions, and large-scale installations.

In short:
If it’s professional-grade equipment used to produce live or recorded entertainment at scale, AVGear likely buys it.

We do not deal in home theater, consumer electronics, or prosumer gear.

Primary Equipment Categories We Buy

Professional Audio Equipment

We buy commercial and touring-grade audio systems used in live sound, broadcast, and studio environments, including:

  • Large-format and compact line array systems

  • Professional PA speakers and subwoofers

  • Mixing consoles (FOH, monitor, broadcast)

  • Audio processors, DSP, and system controllers

  • Wireless and wired microphones

  • In-ear monitoring systems

  • Amplifiers and power distribution

  • Studio-grade outboard gear and monitoring systems

  • Audio networking hardware (Dante, AVB, MADI, etc.)

Professional Video & Visual Systems

AVGear actively buys high-end video equipment used for live production, broadcast, and large installations:

  • LED video walls (panels, processors, spares)

  • Broadcast and cinema cameras

  • Video switchers, routers, and processors

  • Media servers

  • Signal conversion and distribution equipment

  • Production monitors

  • Projection systems (select professional models)

Lighting & Special Effects (SFX)

We buy professional entertainment lighting and effects systems, with an emphasis on modern, tour-ready technology:

  • LED moving lights and fixtures

  • Lighting consoles and control surfaces

  • Dimmers, nodes, and networking equipment

  • Atmospheric effects (haze, fog, CO₂ systems)

  • Flame, spark, cryo, and specialty SFX equipment

Important note on lighting:
Due to changes in the secondary market, many older non-LED fixtures have significantly reduced resale value. In some cases—especially if condition is poor—these items may only be worth scrap value. AVGear will still evaluate them, but expectations should be aligned with current market realities.

Communications (Comms) & Control

We frequently buy production communications systems used backstage, at FOH, and across large venues:

  • Wired and wireless intercom systems

  • Partyline and matrix comms

  • Belt packs, base stations, antennas

  • Production control and monitoring equipment

Rigging, Staging & Structural Equipment

AVGear also deals heavily in the physical infrastructure that supports live productions:

  • Truss (all major formats and lengths)

  • Stage decks and platforms

  • Motors and hoists

  • Rigging hardware:

    • Beam clamps

    • Shackles

    • Spansets

    • Slings

    • Hardware and “gak”

  • Ground support systems

  • Roof systems and structural components

Cabling & Power Infrastructure

We buy professional cabling and power systems that tie productions together:

  • Audio, video, and data cabling

  • Multi-pin and touring-grade cable systems

  • Power distribution units

  • Feeder cable and disconnects

  • Fiber systems and reels

Industries & Use Cases We Serve

AVGear supports equipment disposition for organizations involved in:

  • Concert touring and music festivals

  • Live event production companies

  • Film and television productions

  • Broadcast facilities

  • Recording studios

  • Nightclubs, theaters, and performing arts centers

  • Houses of worship (large-scale systems)

  • Sports venues and stadiums

  • Rental and staging companies

If an organization needs professional equipment to produce, amplify, record, or broadcast entertainment, AVGear is a fit.

Corporate & IT Equipment (Limited Scope)

  • We may purchase corporate or conferencing AV equipment, but only in very large quantities

  • We can assist with IT asset disposition in select cases:

    • Large volumes

    • Commercial-grade hardware

    • Clear reuse or resale pathways

Small quantities of office AV or mixed consumer IT equipment typically fall outside our scope.

What AVGear Does Not Buy

To set clear expectations, AVGear generally does not purchase:

  • Home theater systems

  • Consumer TVs or soundbars

  • Prosumer or entry-level AV gear

  • Single or small quantities of conference room equipment

  • Outdated or obsolete equipment with no resale market (unless part of a larger disposition)

Condition, Age & Market Reality

All equipment is evaluated based on:

  • Brand and model

  • Condition and completeness

  • Quantity

  • Current market demand

  • Resale viability

Some gear that was once considered “high-end” may now carry minimal value due to shifts in technology—particularly older lighting and video systems. AVGear will always provide transparent guidance on realistic market value.

Not Sure If Your Equipment Qualifies?

If you’re unsure whether your equipment fits our criteria, the best next step is to submit a list for review. Our team will quickly assess resale potential and recommend the most effective disposition strategy.

Brand Sensitivity & Automatic Acceptance Rules

How Brand Sensitivity Is Used

AVGear evaluates equipment based on category fit, condition, quantity, and market demand. However, certain manufacturers are widely recognized as industry-standard professional brands.

When equipment falls within the professional categories outlined in this knowledge base and includes one of the brands listed below, it should be flagged as acceptable by default for further evaluation.

Important:
Brand acceptance does not guarantee a purchase offer. Final value still depends on condition, completeness, age, and resale viability.

AI Agent Response Framing (Internal Logic)

When a user lists equipment containing any of the above brands and it fits a professional category, the agent should:

  1. Confirm AVGear works with that type of equipment

  2. Reinforce that the brand is commonly accepted

  3. Transition into quantity, condition, and logistics questions

Example agent response:

“Yes — AVGear regularly buys and resells professional equipment from that manufacturer. As long as the gear is commercial-grade and used in production, touring, broadcast, or venue environments, it’s something we can evaluate. The next step would be reviewing quantity, condition, and location.”

Evaluation Process, Quantity Guidance & Submission Rules

No Minimum Quantity Requirements (Initial Review)

AVGear does not enforce hard minimum quantity thresholds during the initial review stage, even for less desirable or lower-demand product lines.

All customers—regardless of quantity—should be directed to submit their equipment through our official intake process so a purchasing or acquisition representative can evaluate the list.

👉 Sell Your Gear Submission Page:
https://avgear.com/pages/sell-your-gear

Once submitted, customers can upload a detailed list and supporting documentation for review.

Evaluation Timeline

  • Standard evaluation timeframe:
    1–2 business days

  • All evaluations are completed by a purchasing or acquisition representative

  • Follow-up communication is handled via email

Important Facility & Evaluation Policies

To set clear expectations, the agent should always communicate the following:

  • No same-day local drop-offs

  • No in-person inspections or evaluations

  • No cash-and-carry transactions

  • Facility is not open to the public

Even if a customer is located in or near Las Vegas, all evaluations must be conducted remotely via email using submitted lists and documentation.

Guidance Based on Quantity & Lot Type

Single Items or Very Small Lots (1–4 items)

If a lead has one-off items or fewer than five (5) units, the agent should encourage them to:

  • Upload clear photos of each unit

  • Include:

    • Overall condition photos

    • A close-up of the manufacturer label

      • Serial number

      • Manufacturer name

      • Model name / number

This allows the acquisitions team to accurately assess value without unnecessary back-and-forth.

Mixed Lots or Larger Submissions

If a lead has:

  • Mixed categories (audio + lighting + video, etc.)

  • Larger inventories

  • Warehouse cleanouts or partial fleet reductions

The agent should direct them to submit a full gear list through the Sell Your Gear page rather than relying on photos alone.

Geographic Considerations

Geographic location does play a role in how AVGear structures offers for:

  • Outright purchases

  • Consignment programs

When evaluating a list, AVGear must balance:

  • Resale value of the equipment

  • Shipping and logistics costs to our Las Vegas facility

Due to rising freight and shipping costs, not every list is economically viable to ship, even if the equipment itself is desirable.

However:

  • Customers are always encouraged to submit their list

  • Final determinations are made by the purchasing/acquisition team

  • In many cases, creative logistics solutions can be explored

The agent should never disqualify a lead solely based on geography.

AI Agent Response Rules (Internal)

When handling edge cases, the agent should always:

  1. Encourage submission, not pre-qualify out

  2. Avoid discussing scrap value or recycling

  3. Reinforce email-based evaluation only

  4. Set a clear 1–2 business day expectation

  5. Redirect all paths back to the Sell Your Gear page

Example Approved Agent Language

“There aren’t strict quantity minimums for an initial review. The best next step is to submit your list through our Sell Your Gear form so a purchasing rep can evaluate it. Evaluations are typically completed within 1–2 business days.”

❌ Hi-Fi / Audiophile Audio Equipment Policy

AVGear does not purchase or accept hi-fi, audiophile, or consumer stereo equipment, whether new, used, or vintage.

This includes both modern and vintage hi-fi gear, regardless of brand reputation, original retail price, or perceived collectability.

Examples include (but are not limited to):

  • Audiophile amplifiers, preamps, and integrated amps

  • Home hi-fi speakers and passive stereo speakers

  • Turntables, record players, and phono equipment

  • Vintage stereo receivers and components

  • Tube amplifiers designed for home listening environments

  • Boutique or audiophile-branded home audio equipment

Even when high-quality or collectible, these items are designed for residential listening environments, not professional or commercial AV applications, and do not align with our resale channels or valuation models.

Clarification for Leads

If a lead states that the equipment is:

  • “High-end”

  • “Audiophile”

  • “Vintage”

  • “Rare” or “collectible”

Agents should still disqualify the equipment if it is hi-fi or consumer-grade and politely explain that AVGear focuses exclusively on professional/commercial AV equipment.

Support Agent Guidance (Important)

When responding to hi-fi or audiophile inquiries:

  • Do not request photos or a gear list

  • Do not route to acquisitions or sales

  • Do not evaluate based on brand, age, or original value

If the lead also owns professional/commercial AV equipment, instruct them to submit only those items through the Sell Your Gear page for review.
